Designer of the Week: Marc Jacobs

It's Thursday, so that means we have our second designer of the week, and that honor goes to another one of my favorite designers: Marc Jacobs.

Marc Jacobs is an American designer for his own line The Marc Jacobs Collection and his diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs. Marc is also currently the creative director for Louis Vuitton. He is the youngest designer ever to have won the fashion industry's most prestigious award, The CFDA Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.

The Marc Jacobs Collection is Marc's runway line for each season and is considerably more expensive than Marc by Marc Jacobs, which also boasts ready-to-wear clothing, bags, shoes, and swimwear at lower prices. Marc has been known to purposely not make his clothes "hot", as he puts it. He goes for the subtly sexy look, and never overdoes anything he designs.

Below are a couple of my favorites from his two lines:

Totally Turnlock Percy in Shock Orange ($198)

Winona Cardigan in Dusty White Melange ($188)

While his lines aren't necessarily in the price range of a poor college student, they are perfect for a post-grad working girl or guy. But be on the look out for great deals on his collections on Gilt and Hautelook!

"I'd like to believe that the women who wear my clothes are not dressing for other people, that they're wearing what they like and what suits them. It's not a status thing." -Marc Jacobs
