Los Angeles Lakers win back-to-back NBA Championships

Who says the original is always better than the sequel?

As I hoped and predicted, the Lakers pulled off the back-to-back championship wins in Game 7 to make it the 16th in Laker history, but it wasn't pretty. And by not pretty, I mean really, really, ugly.

It was always a relatively close game, but Boston held the lead much more often than not. Kobe finally got a little help from his friends and his teamed pulled together for what was really the Celtics game to win. It was played at the Celtics tempo, in Celtic fashion, and LA spent most of the game playing catch-up. But that all changed towards the end of the game, and LA ultimately got the win. Gasol had 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Kobe Bryant was named MVP of the finals with 20 points in Game 7. As for the Game 7 MVP, there was no question that Ron Artest deserved that, with 20 points and 5 rebounds. And he knew just who to thank at the end of the game: everybody in "his hood" and "his psychiatrist". Thank whoever you want, buddy. You played a hell of a game and if they're responsible, I'll thank them too.

With an 83-79 final score, a very low scoring Game 7 by usual standards, the Lakers got what they deserved after a brutal 7-game series.

Sixteen is so so sweet.
