Africa Fashion Week 2010

Just when you thought it'd be all cleats and no couture for South Africa in the months of June and July, fashion week came to Johannesburg. Africa Fashion Week 2010 took place June 30th - July 3rd during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and went off with an unbelievable amount of success.

There were over 100 designers in the show; some of the ones you may recognize were BCBG Max Azria, Bebenoir, Herve Leger, and Yves Saint Laurent. Charlize Theron and Max Azria were among some of the famous South Africans in attendance.

As Africa Fashion Week came to a close on July 3rd, the Africa Fashion Awards for 2010 were presented. Black Coffee won for African Designer of the Year and Duro Olowu won for International Designer of the Year. Michael Jackson was honored posthumously as Male Style Influencer and Yves Saint Laurent was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Colors (especially yellow) and sequins seemed to dominate the runway this year in Africa. Below are some of the hottest looks from a few of Africa's top designers. Enjoy!
