Mike Rosenthal Photography

As I have mentioned before, I watch an incredible amount of garbage television. I always manage to have a line up of five or six shows a week to watch, no matter what the television season. In the fall, one of the shows on my list that still has some merit left to it is America's Next Top Model. The only reason I say that has "merit" is because it contains some insights to the fashion world and I get to watch the inter-workings of photo shoots.

I've been watching fairly consistently since the first cycle of ANTM, but since cycle 7, I've watched every week. I pay close attention to the models that come to speak to the contestants, as well as the photographers that shoot them. After watching 14 cycles, I have completely fallen in love with the work of one of the photographers on the show: Mike Rosenthal. Mike is an American photographer and cinematographer that regularly shoots and sometimes guest judges on ANTM (cycle 14 was the first season he didn't do a photo shoot on the show since at before cycle 5, if not earlier). He's even worked with Academy Award-winning cinematographer Russell Carpenter (who was the cinematographer for Titanic).

All of his photo shoots always end up being my favorite of the cycle, as they're all incredibly creative and seem to tell a story. He's just an extremely talented photographer and it's impossible not to love his photos. I've picked a few from each cycle, from 13 all the way through 7. Enjoy, and make sure to tune into the cycle 15 premiere on Wednesday, September 8th at 8pm on the CW. With any luck, he'll be back!

Cycle 13: "Cirque du Soleil"

Cycle 12: "New York's Finest"
(different Manhattan characters & locations)

Cycle 11: "Fierce Awards" (award show mishaps)
& "Top Model Inauguration" (political statements)

Cycle 10: "Fuerzabruta" (dance on water)

Cycle 9: "Negative Side Effects of Smoking"

Cycle 8: "Murdered Model" (crime scene victims)

Cycle 7: "Circus Freak Show"

If you haven't had enough, visit his website at and check out his portfolio for more photos.
