Product of the Week: Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Powder

As I mentioned before when I recommended the TanTowel as a product of the week, I consider myself a tanning product connoisseur, and I'd be willing to say that includes all different types of bronzer as well. I've tried a variety of bronzers since I started wearing makeup, (including NARS Bronzer in Laguna, their most popular shade), but I haven't found one that even compares to Chanel's Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Powder.

This bronzing powder (which used to come in a quilted pattern and now comes in the wavy one shown above) is: gently illuminating, oil-free bronzing powder in the form of wave-swept sands delivers a naturally gorgeous bronze glow that never looks dull or flat (according to Chanel.com).

Like I said, I used to use NARS (at $26 a compact), but I went through 3 or 4 a year and they cracked/broke very easily as soon as I got to the bottom of the compact. Right before I went to college freshman year, I went to Saks Fifth Avenue and tried on a bunch of different bronzers and liked Chanel the best. The lady behind the counter swore to me that it would last me all year. I didn't really believe her, but I figured if it lasted me six months at $50/each, I wouldn't be any worse off than I started.

As it turned out, it did last me the year. Aside from that, it works extremely well. It comes in four shades that are available year-round: Desert Corail (61), Terre Epice (62), Terre Ambre (63), and Desert Bronze (64). There is also a limited edition shade every year, this year's being Terre Halee (617). I made the mistake of buying the limited edition shade the first year, so when I went back to get it again, they obviously didn't have it. So now I wear Terre Epice, and it's the darker of the two lighter shades (Desert Corail is the lightest).

If you go to Macys, Nordstrom, or Saks, and go to the Chanel counter, they'll apply the makeup for you so you can test it out. But once you go Coco, you never go back.
