Serena Williams & Rafael Nadal take 1st in Wimbledon

Even with the crazy amount of upsets, two seasoned experts in Grand Slam wins took the men's and women's singles Wimbledon titles. Over the Fourth of July weekend, Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal both beat their opponents in straight set wins (Serena 6-3, 6-2 and Rafael 6-3, 7-5, 6-4) to take the title. This Wimbledon win was Serena's 4th and 13th major win overall (she even mentioned that she sometimes forgets how many she has). Rafael has won 8 Grand Slam titles, two of them being at Wimbledon. With this win, Nadal is back to No. 1 and is turning heads as the conversation in tennis is beginning to revolve around him more than ever.

The other top dogs in the tournament didn't fair as well in the rankings. Serena's sister Venus went from No. 2 to No. 4 after being defeated at Wimbledon, and Roger Federer fell to No. 3 in the ATP rankings for the first time since 2003 (he was only one week shy of Pete Sampras's record of 286 weeks at No. 1).

In celebration of their wins, Serena and Rafael (pictured below) attended the 2010 Wimbledon Ball in style. Serena, known for her love of fashion on and off the court, donned a gold Burberry mini dress that framed her athletic figure and was paired very well with a Wimbledon trophy.

Congratulations Serena & Rafael!
