Stella McCartney asked to design the British uniforms for 2012 London Olympics

With the Vancouver 2010 games already 6 months in the past and the London 2012 games sneaking up on us rather quickly, details are being ironed out. Britain has gotten a jump start on the fashion end of the games and has hired designer Stella McCartney to design their 2012 uniforms. Working as creative director with Adidas, Stella is intending on creating four separate collections for the Olympics. The first, debuting in September, will be a men's and women's "lifestyle" collection aimed at non-athletes and fans of team GB, sold at UK Adidas stores. The collections will culminate in the unveiling of the uniforms of the British team.

Stella has worked with Adidas before, so this collaboration is something we can count on being fantastic. She currently designs her own line of women's athletic clothing called Adidas by Stella McCartney and also dressed tennis star Caroline Wozniacki in Adidas for Wimbledon.

Stella has stated that as a British fashion designer, "it is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be creative director of Team GB as the hosting nation of the London 2012 Olympic Games."
