Designer of the Week: Vera Wang

In honor of "the wedding of the year" between Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky, this week's Designer of the Week is the designer of both of Chelsea's wedding gowns: Vera Wang.

Vera Wang is a famous American fashion designer based out of New York City, most notably know for her wedding collection (go figure). Born and raised in Shanghai, China, she went to the University of Paris for her undergraduate studies and was a senior editor at Vogue for sixteen years. She worked under Ralph Lauren for two years before starting her own designs, namely wedding gowns.

Vera has designed gowns for many well-known people. While most recently it was Chelsea Clinton, she has also designed for Mariah Carey, Ivanka Trump, Jessica Simpson, Victoria Beckham, Khloe Kardashian, Uma Thurman, Kate Hudson, and many, many, more.

Aside from wedding gowns, Vera launched a china and crystal collection in 2002, as well as Simply Vera, her diffusion line made solely for Kohl's Department Store. She has won several fashion awards in her career, including the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 and a CFDA in 2007 for Womenswear Designer of the Year.

Below are two of my favorite Vera wedding designs:
Khloe Kardashian and Ivanka Trump
