The 2010 American Music Awards

Live from the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, the 2010 American Music Awards!

8:00pm: Rihanna opens the show with "Love The Way You Lie Part II". I like Part I better, but it was still a good performance. I really don't care for her clown red hair though, ever.

8:02pm: Then she went into her new song "What's My Name". I think she's going through a transformation phase after Chris Brown, so to each her own.

8:05pm: Still performing, "Only Girl In the World" - not her best rendition of this song. Standing ovation? Really?

8:09pm: Heidi Klum onstage presenting the award for Favorite Soul/R&B Album:

Nominated:
Alicia Keys - The Element of Freedom
Sade - Solider of Love
Usher - Raymond v. Raymond

My vote: Usher - Raymond v. Raymond
My prediction: Usher - Raymond v. Raymond
Winner: Usher - Raymond v. Raymond

Duh.

8:14pm: Jenny McCarthy (looking amazing) and John Legend onstage presenting the award for Favorite Pop Rock Band/Duo/Group:

Nominated:
The Black Eyed Peas
Lady Antebellum
Train

My vote: Lady Antebellum
My prediction: The Black Eyed Peas
Winner: The Black Eyed Peas

I knew country wasn't going to win the American population's vote, but The Black Eyed Peas are great also.

8:17pm: Eric Stonestreet and Rico Rodriguez from Modern Family onstage introducing Enrique Iglesias with Pitbull performing "Tonight" and "I Like It". I find it phenomenal that Enrique made this comeback. Pretty great performance, in my opinion. Love the drums. Loved the pan to Taylor Swift where she didn't know the words.

8:22pm: Miley Cyrus performing "Forgiveness and Love". Wearing a really weird cape-dress, and I don't think the performance was particularly great. Although I found the song to be a good choice considering her parents' pending divorce.

8:30pm: Diddy & Dirty Money performing "I'm Coming Home". Fine, moving on.

8:35pm: Jessica Alba onstage presenting the award for Favorite Country Female Artist:

Nominated:
Miranda Lambert
Taylor Swift
Carrie Underwood

My vote: Taylor Swift
My prediction: Taylor Swift
Winner: Taylor Swift

Shocking, right? But I still love her and her new hair.

8:37pm: Samuel L. Jackson introducing Kid Rock, performing "Times Like These". Represent Michigan! Lots and lots of love, all the way from Alabama. What a great performance.

8:46pm: Christina Milian and Johnny Weir onstage presenting the award for Favorite Latin Music Artist:

Nominated:
Daddy Yankee
Enrique Iglesias
Shakira

My vote: Enrique Iglesias
My prediction: Shakira
Winner: Shakira

She's more nationally renowned but I'm loving Enrique's comeback way too much.

8:48pm: The Black Eyed Peas onstage performing "The Time (Dirty Bit)". Not gonna lie, I'm a fan of the song. Gonna be a great dance jam. I pretty much feel like Fergie wears the same thing every time she's on stage - a dress with pointy sleeves that look like mini-wings.

8:57pm: Katy Perry onstage performing "Firework" with a choir of little kids...? Meh. Pretty much fizzled out for me. She looked really pretty though. Must be a post-wedding glow.

9:01pm: Taio Cruz, Nicki Minaj, and Trey Songz onstage presenting the award for Favorite Soul/R&B Artist:

Nominated:
Alicia Keys
Rihanna
Sade

My vote: Rihanna
My prediction: Rihanna
Winner: Rihanna

Homegirl deserved this and probably needed this boost in her career. Good for her. She's still weird.

9:04pm: Willow Smith (the daughter of Will and Jada) onstage introducing Justin Bieber, performing "Pray". Little slow for a Justin song, but he's a really good performer. Hard to believe Usher found him on YouTube.

9:13pm: Mandy Moore and Sheryl Crow onstage presenting the award for Favorite Country Male Artist:

Nominated:
Jason Aldean
Luke Bryan
Brad Paisley

My vote: Luke Bryan
My prediction: Brad Paisley
Winner: Brad Paisley

Luke Bryan is my new favorite but Brad Paisley is standard country. I think he wears that hat every time he goes to an award show.

9:16pm: Bon Jovi onstage performing some of the group's classics throughout the years. Love him.

9:28pm:  Natasha Bedingfield onstage presenting the award for Breakthrough Artist:

Nominated:
Justin Bieber
Lady Antebellum
Travie McCoy
Mike Posner

My vote: Mike Posner, obviously.
My prediction: Justin Bieber
Winner: Justin Bieber

I'm not sure it's possible that it could have been anyone else. Too many teenie-boppers to beat out. Love you Mike!

9:30pm: Kelly Osbourne onstage introducing Pink, performing "Raise Your Glass". Haha I feel like she shouldn't / can't perform to her normal level of craziness if she's pregnant?

9:41pm: Ne-Yo performing "Champagne Life", among other songs. I forget that he's a good dancer sometimes. And there was a whole lotta sex in that performance, goodness.

9:45pm: Taylor Swift, with her new hair, performing "Back to December". Like the lit-up trees. I also like that it's obvious she's singing live. Good little remix.

9:50pm: Julianne Hough and Keri Hilson onstage presenting the award for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist:

Nominated:
Justin Bieber
Eminem
Usher

My vote: Eminem
My prediction: Justin Bieber
Winner: Justin Bieber

I told you! Can't beat those tweens and their voting. Haha and he thanked Michael Jackson? K.

9:58pm: Christina Aguilera performing a song from her new movie "Burlesque". Looks like Lady Marmalade all over again to me. Does anyone know what burlesque means?

10:02pm: Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic from the show Castle onstage presenting the award for Favorite Country Band/Duo/Group:

Nominated:
Zac Brown Band
Lady Antebellum
Rascal Flatts

My vote: Lady Antebellum
My prediction: Lady Antebellum
Winner: Lady Antebellum

I'm on point tonight. It's pretty to easy to predict how the population will vote as opposed to a board of people.

10:09pm: Usher onstage performing "DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again". GOD I love this song. Makes me want to be in a dance club pretty much right now.

10:13pm: My boy Mike Posner (who looks so good!) and Avril Lavigne onstage presenting the award for Favorite Alternative Rock Music Artist:

Nominated:
Muse
Phoenix
Vampire Weekend

My vote: Muse
My prediction: Mus
Winner: Muse

10:15pm: Train onstage performing "Marry Me" and "Soul Sister". I've never really liked their live performances and this is no exception.

10:24pm: The Band Perry (they're my new favorite!) onstage presenting the award for Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist:

Nominated:
Michael Buble
Lady Antebellum
Train

My vote: Lady Antebellum
My prediction: Train
Winner: Michael Buble

Hmmm. Haha interesting. It just occurred to me how boring this entire awards show has been. That's what you get when you don't have a host,  I suppose.

10:26pm: TV's No Ordinary Family stars Michael Chicklis and Julie Benz introducing Ke$ha, onstage performing "Take It Off" and "We R Who We R". She reminds me of a much trashier and less talented Lady GaGa. Who just broke her guitar. What a weirdo.

10:36pm: Santana with Gavin Rosdale onstage performing... I'm not really sure what. But I hated it. Why is the crowd cheering?

10:40pm: Lady Antebellum onstage presenting the award for Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist:

Nominated:
Chris Brown
Trey Songz
Usher

My vote: Usher
My prediction: Usher
Winner: Usher

Usher is way more popular than Trey Songz (sorry buddy) and Chris Brown will not be winning anything anytime soon.

10:48pm: Ryan Seacrest onstage presenting the award for Favorite Artist of the Year:

Nominated:
Justin Bieber
Eminem
Ke$ha (got no applause, haaaa)
Lady GaGa
Katy Perry

My vote: Eminem
My prediction: Justin Bieber
Winner: Justin Bieber - the youngest person to ever win this award (at age 16)

Justin Bieber invites Usher onstage during his acceptance speech. Really, really cute. Respect that.

10:52pm: Easily the highlight of the show (and the only reason anyone was watching) New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys onstage performing together. NKOTBSB. Oh my god. This may be the greatest thing I've ever seen. There are no words. If you haven't seen this performance, watch it here right now. They also announced 18 dates for their joint summer concert tour, obviously there is one in Detroit that I won't be able to attend.

But what a great way to end the 2010 AMA's! Backstreet's back, ALRIGHT.

AMA Red Carpet's Best & Worst Dressed

In my opinion, the AMAs did not prove to be that much better than the CMAs. Maybe a little, but not much.

Best Dressed

Taylor Swift rocking a sparking mini by Colette Dinnigan and strappy Jimmy Choos. Oh, and not to mention her gorgeous new hair.

The just-married glow suits Katy Perry, and so do her long, dark locks.

Minus the really ugly train, I love this dress on Miley Cyrus. Her hair color and style seem to go well with the ensemble, down to the glittering peep toes.

Per usual, Jessica Alba can do no wrong.

I'm not sure everyone could rock this, but Jenny McCarthy, with her gorgeous up-do, manages to knock it out of the park.

Meh / So-So / Forgettable
(not great, but not so tragic that I'll remember you weren't cute)

I know Pink is pregnant so there isn't much she can wear, but this bores me.

Would like this dress on Whitney Port a lot more without the awkward belt or side swipe of brown material. And without her harsh up-do.

Mandy Moore showed up on the red carpet after a day at the mall...

Kelly Osbourne + lace isn't my favorite combination. Especially a lot of lace.

I think the reasons this dress doesn't make me want to vomit upon first sight is because Rihanna looks good in just about anything and the color matches her hair so my mind feels like it goes together.

Worst Dressed

Heidi Klum - this dress is see-through and horribly unflattering.

Sheryl Crow looks like a really heinous oriental rug was pinned to her as she walked down the red carpet.

I'm not sure what's going on at the bottom of Julianne Hough's dress, but it should just be chopped off completely.

I'm just really confused about the entire wardrobe of the Smith family - Jada, Willow, & Jaden. I don't feel like they looked in the mirror before they left.

But nothing can compare to the garbage that Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha wear to all of their red-carpet events. At least I feel as if Nicki is attempting to be Gaga-esque. Ke$ha just always looks (and sounds) like trash.

Another year of award shows coming to a close, and nothing has impressed me as much as the ESPYs has. Grammy nominations are just around the corner so stay tuned!
