The 2011 Designer Pre-Fall Collections

Doesn't it seem like the fashion world moves about six months faster than the rest of us? I feel like I just posted Spring 2011 collections and campaigns, and the 2011 Pre-Fall collections are already out. I'm gonna go ahead and agree with Michael Kors on one thing: the word "Pre" is "disgusting" and writers in the fashion world need to come up with a better collection name for the in-between fall & spring. Nevertheless, for the most part, this round of Pre-Fall collections is stunning. There are a handful of what-were-you-thinkings, but I'll show you some samples from each collection without commentary and have my rankings and thoughts at the end so you can decide for yourself as you go.

ALICE + OLIVIA

 BURBERRY PRORSUM

CHRISTIAN DIOR

CHANEL

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG

FENDI

GIORGIO ARMANI

GUCCI

LOUIS VUITTON

MICHAEL KORS

OSCAR DE LA RENTA

VERSACE

ZAC POSEN

Now that you've seen them all, I can tell you that there were very few collections I didn't like. My top five? Versace, Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Alice + Olivia, & Diane von Furstenberg (in no particular order because they were all that amazing). Those were followed closely by Fendi, Gucci, and Armani. A step down from them included Burberry Prorsum and Zac Posen, but still definitely in the very good range. The three collections I didn't care for are probably pretty obvious by my taste in style: Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, and (hold your breath) Michael Kors. I know, I know, I live and breathe for Michael Kors, but this collection really did not impress me, especially compared to all of the other amazing collections. Dior's was by far my least favorite; I'm just really confused by it. I would have ranked these in an actual numerical order, but the top eight or so were all so amazing that it didn't seem fair. But I did pick out my favorite design from each collection:

Alice + Olivia: 5
Burberry Prorsum: 4
Christian Dior: 6 (if I have to pick)
Chanel: 1
Diane von Furstenberg: 4
Fendi: 5
Giorgio Armani: 5 (my favorite piece overall!)
Gucci: 4
Louis Vuitton: 5 (the second outfit)
Michael Kors: 6
Oscar de la Renta: 4
Versace: 1
Zac Posen: 4

What do you think of Pre-Fall 2011 and what are your favorite pieces and collections?
