October 2012 [Non-Beauty] Favorites

Even though I mainly write about my favorite makeup and beauty products on my blog, I do always have a whole slew of non-beauty favorites that I love each month, be it food, TV shows (since I am a crappy TV junkie), new candle obsessions or Starbucks drinks. Keep reading to see some of my favorites from October!

TV Show: XFactor
Unlike my normal CW/ABCFamily show obsessions, I've really been loving watching XFactor. Admittedly, the only reason I started watching was because Britney Spears is a judge. The talent is pretty decent (I'm obsessed with Emblem3 for anyone that's watching) but the interaction between the judges is what is making the show for me. However, Brit is not earning her $15 million paycheck, as she can't seem to even string a sentence together when asked her opinion about an act. Either way, it's entertaining to watch, although I will say that I do not have 3-4 hours a week to devote to XFactor (2 hours on performance night, 1-2 hours on results night), so I always DVR it.

Movie: Argo
Easily the best movie I've seen all year. For a movie that isn't meant to be an action movie, it had me on the edge of my seat throughout, and my heart was actually racing for the entire second half of the movie (and probably 15 minutes after it was over). If you haven't seen it yet, run, do not walk, to your nearest theater. It got a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, if you're wondering.

Sweet Food: Mini Twix
I know that seems like a really random sweet food, but they have been freaking everywhere during the month of October because of Halloween. They were sitting in a bowl at the front of my office, professors were passing around candy, tables at school had them, and I just can never say no to them.

Savory Food: Pico de gallo
This probably seems random too, but it goes hand-in-hand with my next favorite. I have no tolerance for anything spicy, but I love salsa-type things so Pico is perfect (and healthy).

Restaurant: Chipotle
Aaaaaand this is where I've been getting my Pico fix through the month of October. I would say I ate Chipotle 2-3 times a week in October, and I got the same thing every time: 2 soft vegetarian tacos with brown rice, fajita vegetables, pico, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Incase you didn't know this, my roommate Emily discovered that you are not required to order the full 3-taco order at Chiptole. You can order 2 or even 1 individiually, which is AWESOME. And with vegetarian tacos, you get guacamole for free.

Starbucks Drink: 3 shots of espresso + 2 pumps of pumpkin spice + 2%
I know, sounds just like a PSL right? Kind of... except there is considerably more espresso (3 shots in this as opposed to 1 shot in a tall), less syrup and less milk. Aka, flavored espresso with a splash of steamed milk. It is FAB.

Candle: Slatkin & Co. Frosted Cranberry
One of the Bath & Body Works Christmas candles, this is described as "Fill your home with holiday magic with this sparkling blend of white cranberry, juicy peach, and raspberry, infused with pure joy!" It is a great fall/winter candle and has been infusing my apartment with holiday goodness.

Song: Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble
If you haven't downloaded Taylor Swift's new album 'Red', you must do so. It is hard to compare with 'Speak Now', but this album is awesome. It is still, in true Taylor fashion, all about her exes for the most part, but she is starting to grow up a bit. And the song "I Knew You Were Trouble" is by far the catchiest on the album, although it is not country at all (it almost has a dubstep chorus?). You can listen to this song here.

I know this one doesn't come as a shock to anyone, but I have seriously been scouring all month reading reviews for new products, checking out holiday gift sets, and just spending money in general. There are a whole slew of new holiday products that have just been released, and some are exclusive to Sephora. I highly recommend checking out the Benefit High Flyin' Gloss set (6 glosses for $26, and it's a $54 value!) They are the (and yep, I just said I love these glosses and there is a color that flatters everyone. You could totally split them up too and use them as stocking stuffers, at under $5 a gloss!

Person: My dear friend Molly. She has inspired me back into the blogging world and even more projects that are on the horizon for me and Cleats & Couture. We've known each other for as long as I can remember, and through grade school, high school, college, and moves across the country, our friendship has never changed. Love you Moll! That's it for my October non-beauty favorites! What are some things that you've been loving this month?
