2012 Beauty Favorites

As promised, the matching post to follow my first Cleats & Couture video - my 2012 Beauty Favorites! Watch the video below, or click after the jump to read about the products! I show all of the products in the video, and I've listed them in order if you want to skip ahead to hear about specific products.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation ($38, get it here)
An amazing medium to full coverage foundation with a very wide range of shades. It's also in the more affordable range for a high-end foundation.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation ($45, get it here)
A light to medium coverage foundation that I really like applying with my fingers or the beauty blender sponge. It's buildable, but it's definitely not a full coverage foundation. I use this one more for daytime looks!

L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream ($10.99, get it here)
This has been my go-to product when I'm having a lazy morning (which is most of the time). I wear the shade 'Light' & just apply it with my fingers all over my face. It comes out white, but blends into skintone color. It's perfect for days when I don't really feel like wearing that much makeup.

Blush, Highlighter, & Powder
MAC Blush in Gingerly & Breath of Plum ($20, get them here)
Gingerly is a matte brownish-brick color, and is the perfect color to wear on your cheeks when you have a lot going on with your eyes and lips (so it doesn't detract from them). Breath of Plum is the perfect fall & winter matte plum shade. I love that both of these blushes are sheertones (a type of finish in MAC blushes), because it makes the color extremely buildable and easy to apply.

Dior Amber Diamond Highlighter ($44, get it here)
This highlighter is one of the most beautiful that I've ever used. It's a spectrum of shimmery shades that I just sweep my brush through & it produces a beautiful glow on my cheekbones.

Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Highlighter ($30, get it here)
This is a different kind of a highlighter because it comes in liquid form. I just squeeze a little bit out onto my finger and place it on my cheekbones. A little goes a long way, so I recommend buying the little size because it's a lot less expensive (Ulta sells the smaller size, but I'm not sure that Sephora does).

L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base ($12.99, get it here)
This primer is a drugstore dupe for all the silcone-based primers on the market. It's not nearly as much product (I go through them pretty fast), but you put it on with your fingers before you put your foundation on. It gives your face a completely smooth base to put all of your makeup on, as well as minimizes your pores.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder ($4.99, get it here)
I use this powder after I've sprayed my makeup setting spray to just set all of my makeup with a powder. The setting spray dries on its own, but I like topping it off with a translucent powder. This one is incredible!

L'Oreal Power Volume Collagen Mascara ($7.99, get it here)
This mascara has been somewhat overlooked in the beauty community; it's my go-to when I want my lashes to look incredibly full (it has a huge brush!).

Maybelline Illegal Lengths Mascara ($8.99, get it here)
This is the only Maybelline mascara that I've tried that I like. It's very different than a lot of their other ones, as it has a thin, tall brush. It lengthens my eyelashes unlike any mascara that I've ever seen.

Benefit They're Real Mascara ($23, get it here)
This is one of the best all-around mascaras that I've ever used. I actually have been asked multiple times if I was wearing false lashes when I had it on!

NARS Larger than Life Eyeliner in Rue Bonaparte & Via Veneto ($23, get them here)
These eyeliners are AMAZING. I don't know how else to describe them. I use Rue Bonaparte (a nude color) on my water line to make my eyes appear brighter. Via Veneto (standard black) is the most incredible black eyeliner I've ever used - it's even replaced my Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in zero (which has been my holy grail for years). It stays put literally all day - I had it on my eyes for 16 hours and it didn't even move.

NYX Super Skinny Marker ($8.99, get it here)
My go-to felt-tip eyeliner! I used it for all of my liquid liner looks; it's very easy to apply & use.

MAC Paint Pot in Nubile (limited edition)
I use this paint pot as a primer for most of my eyeshadow looks. It's a mix between MAC Bare Study and MAC Painterly. It's my favorite, so it's too bad it was a limited edition shade!

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow in Emerveille ($36, get it here)
A splurge purchase if I've ever made one, but it's wonderful. It's a cream eyeshadow that is incredibly smooth and the perfect champagne all-over lid color for an easy shadow look.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette ($50, get it here)
Probably my favorite makeup product of all time. I like this better than the original Naked palette because it has cooler tones. It is by far my go-to palette whether I'm doing an everyday look or a nighttime smokey eye.

LORAC Pro Palette ($42, get it here)
My newest palette (that I needed like a hole in the head) that is LORAC's answer to the Naked palettes with 8 shimmery shades and 8 matte shades, which is what drew me to it. Urban Decay's shimmery shades are definitely better, but these matte shades are incredible.

Lip Products
MAC Lipstick in Glamourdaze (limited edition)
One of the limited edition holiday collection colors from MAC this year - it's a creamy plum shade and I've loved wearing it this winter.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush ($8.99, get it here)
These are Revlon's newest lip products and they're incredible! They are exactly what they are called - a balm and a stain. They knock Clinque's Chubby Sticks out of the water, and are about 1/3 of the price.

YSL Sheer Candy in #7 Sweet Fig ($30, get it here)
These are my favorite lip products of all time. I have 5 of the YSL Sheer Candys (yes... 5), but this is the one I wore most during the holidays (it's a red brick color). They are a glossy balm & come in incredible packaging.

YSL Glossy Stain in #10 Rouge Philtre ($32, get it here)
Easily the most unique lip product I've ever used. It's a glossy lip stain that you apply 3 separate coats of. It lasts for ages and it comes in a huge range of colors.

Hair Products
Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner ($16.95, get it here)
I've been using this leave-in conditioner for months in place of actual conditioner when I get out of the shower and it's done wonders for my hair. Using this instead of conditioner in the shower has made my hair less oily.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Touchable Hairspray ($17.95, get it here)
This hairspray is wonderful because it doesn't actually feel like you have hairspray in (hence the touchable part). I hate that sticky hairspray feel, so this is perfect for me.

Straight Sexy Hair Smooth & Seal ($18.95, get it here)
Perfect if you have fly-aways. I spray a little bit into my hand and run it through my hair, but if you have thicker hair, you can spray it directly on and use it as a finishing shine spray for your hair do.

LUSH Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar ($10.95, get it here)
This is my favorite shampoo of all time. LUSH has shampoo bars formulated for different hair types (this is for oily hair), and I swear by them. They lather amazingly & they are like the everlasting gobstoppers of shampoos.

Kenra Platinum Blow-Dry Spray ($22, get it here)
I got this as a free gift with my Ulta reward points and I will never go without it again. It's a heat protectant and blow-dry spray, and it literally cuts my blow-dry time in half. It also helps that it smells amazing.

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray ($5.99, get it here)
I spray this into my hair after I've washed it but decided that I didn't want to dry or style it. I let it air dry and then spray some of this in to give my hair some textured, piecey waves.

So those are all of my favorite products of 2012! What were some of your favorite products this year?
