November 2013 [Beauty & Fashion] Favorites

Urban Decay Glinda Palette (get it here!)
So when this palette first came out, I got it and loved it but couldn't justify the price at the time. I think I had very recently gotten the LORAC Pro Palette, and I knew I would get much more use out of that. However, when Urban Decay had their friends & family sale last month and gave 20% off site-wide, I snatched it up since it was still in stock. What a steal! It is also great because the shadows are full-size and removable, so you can use it as a refillable palette as well. I used it for a wedding look last month and the silver was incredible. It also comes with a nude super saturated lip color and a mini eyeliner in Rockstar (a plum color).

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in No. 18 Prune in Fire (get it here!)
Surprise, surprise, another YSL lip product. Can I not? This is a great fall color, similar to Tom Ford's Bruised Plum but a little bit less pigmented and more moisturizing. I cannot say enough about YSL lip products, as you all know, so any time I get a color I like I'm always very satisfied.

LORAC Dazzling Dozen Eye Shadow Collection (get it here!)
This makes me so happy! Somehow this flew under my radar when it first came out, but I'm so glad I found out about it. I had been saying that LORAC needed to come out with some single eye shadows since I was starting to hit pan on my pro palette in the most common colors, and this was the perfect answer. 12 full sized individual shadows for $35. What?! Insane. Over half of them are neutral with a few pretty colored ones mixed in. It's more shimmer than matte shades, but there are a few good neutral matte shades for everyday looks. I can't recommend it enough, and as far as I know, it's only sold on Ulta.com. Grab it before it's gone!

Tom Ford Lip Color in Indian Rose
Finally. The perfect fall nude shade for my lips. I am super selective when it comes to nude shades for myself - it can't be too light that I look dead, or too dark where it's legitimately brown. It also needs to be pretty creamy so that it doesn't just settle into the cracks of my lips that inevitably get dry during the winter months. This happens to be the best specific shade for my lips, but Tom Ford has an incredible selection of nude colors that I recommend swatching for yourself!

OPI Holiday 2013 Nail Polish in 'My Favorite Ornament' & 'Kiss Me At Midnight'
These are two of my favorites from the new Mariah Carey Holiday Collection from OPI. I normally completely stay as far away from the 'liquid sand' polishes, but Kiss Me At Midnight was so stunning that I had to buy it. Of course, I'm in love! It's such a unique and stunning bright blue textured glitter. My Favorite Ornament is a very opaque gold glitter. The gold leans more silver/cool toned rather than a true yellow-gold, which I really like. It reminds me more of a champagne gold. There is a picture of me wearing the two together on my Instagram here if you want to see the swatch!

NARS Guy Bourdin One Night Stand Cheek Palette (limited edition)
This. This. This. I'm so happy I scooped this up before it sold out on Sephora.com / in stores. I missed the NARS Danmari blush palette so I am thrilled to have this one. Laguna, Deep Throat, and Orgasm are all in here (3 classic cult NARS colors), plus 3 originals to the palette (the highlight, the bright pink blush, and one of the coral blushes). It is amazing, especially for the amount of product you get for the price. I'm going to try and do a review of this product individually, so let me know if that is something you'd be interested in down below in the comments!

Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara (get it here!)
Recommended to me by my dear friend Holly, I decided to give it a try because it looked so amazing on her and I hadn't bought a high-end mascara in a while. Now it is my new go-to mascara, and I love it! I use it when I want big, fuller lashes and I use it when I am going for a more dramatic look. It is actually the only high-end mascara in my collection currently - the rest are drugstore!

Burberry Lip Cover No. 15 Bright Plum (get it here!)
I have been hunting high and low for this lipstick since I saw it on Temptalia, but Nordstrom has been out of stock of it for a while. I finally just caved and looked on Burberry's website, and it was there! Surprisingly, Burberry.com has free shipping so it was amazing and came super quick. This lipstick is an incredible fall shade that I know I will get so much wear out of. It's also not nearly as expensive as Tom Ford lipsticks, and is also cheaper than YSL or Chanel lip products either.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Primer (get it here!)
Because I have been wearing so many pigmented / dark / bright lip colors, I need to make sure that my lips are primed well enough to make the color last and not settle into the cracks of my lips. This has been great so far, and it doesn't dry out my lips at all like other primers I've tried. OCC is also a cruelty-free / 100% vegan makeup brand if that is something that's important to you!

Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish (get it here!)
I'm not entirely sure how to explain this hair product. It's like a hairspray, kind of, and some people also sort of use it as a dry shampoo? But either way, I spray it underneath my roots and VOOM, literally instant volume. Perfect for styling my hair with curls or second-day straight hair. I've found it gives my first-day straight hair a little too much texture.

Essie Encrusted Treasures Nail Polish in 'On a Silver Platter' & 'Hors d'Oeuvres' (get them here!)
I have become more and more of an Essie convert as time goes on, especially with their holiday glitters. I bought two last year too! I have literally never seen anything like 'On A Silver Platter', which is a gold-based glitter with bright blue glitter flecks in it. I have a swatch on my Instagram here, which is a lot easier to have y'all look at than try and explain. It is the perfect glitter for a University of Michigan girl like myself (go blue!) 'Hors d'Oeuvres' is similar to 'On a Silver Platter' in consistency and texture, but the flecks are bright silver and more prominent instead of blue and a bit smaller.

DKNY Color Block Trench Coat (get it here!)
I have been looking for a classic black trench-style coat, and this one is perfect. It can be worn with work clothes, fancy attire, or even dressed down with jeans. It is a very classic cut and wears very timelessly. Now that I'm back in Michigan, coat-weather is a much longer season than I've been used to for the past three years! I know I'm going to get a lot of wear out of this.

Topshop 'Jamie' High Waist Skinny Jeans (get them here!)
These are my favorite jeans of all time. I got my first pair from Topshop in London on Oxford Street (which was so awesome), and they're mint. When I got back from Europe, I was so mad that I didn't get them in more colors that I could wear more often because I loved them so much. Lo and behold, they were in stock at Nordstrom.com and Topshop.com, so I scooped up a black pair. Now with this blue pair, I have a perfect jean trifecta (which I'm sure won't prevent me form buying more). These are my favorite of the three!

Rubbish Stripe Cabled Sweater (get it here!)
I thought I had found a favorite sweater of the season with my blue and coral Rubbish sweater from a few months ago, but this one definitely rivals it, if not surpassing it. It is so incredibly soft and comfortable, it is literally the perfect fall sweater. It comes in two other colors too!

ZARA Leggings (get them here!)
Recommend by Fleur of Fleur DeForce, these leggings are the answer to my legging prayers! I really wanted to love the J.Crew Pixie pants that took the blogging world by storm, but they didn't fit me right and also cost $80. These are less than half the price, and they are infinitely better! They have an elastic waistband that helps them not slip down, and they are so thick that they can even be worn with shorter shirts. They also have a very pretty zipper faux-pocket detail & side panels on the legs that make them more flattering on the body. I can't say enough good things about them!

BaubleBar Duchess Pearl Strand Necklace (get it here!)
I scooped this necklace up during BaubleBar's friend's & family sale, and I have been wearing it with all different kinds of outfits. I love that I can layer it a lot of different ways (I usually layer it three times), and it goes with a variety of different looks. I am very pleased with the quality and versatility of this necklace!

Michael Kors Lexington Chronograph Bracelet Watch (get it here!)
So I have my navy & rose gold Michael Kors watch (which I've recently found out is a men's watch, even though they marketed it as 'unisex'... oops), but it is literally so massive that sometimes it's hard to wear. This watch is so versatile, I can wear it with pretty much any look or for any occasion. It isn't too big to look unprofessional and the links are dressy enough that I can wear it for a fancy night out. I obviously can also dress it down too, which the chronograph helps with. All in all, it's a perfect watch. I ordered it on Amazon for $90 less than the sticker price (amazing, right?) and I took it to the mall to find a jewelry store to remove links for me. FYI for anyone who needs links taken out: Nordstrom will do it for free, even if you didn't buy the watch from them. As if I needed a reason to love them any more, honestly.

I can't believe we are already at the end of November. Where did 2013 go?!

  1. I am loving all of the holiday polishes this year and I need that watch! I have been eyeing gold watches for months now!

    1. The watch is amazing!! I'm obsessed - treat yourself :)
