Top 13 Beauty Favorites of 2013

So I was going to do a huge post of all of my top beauty favorites of 2013, but I felt as if that post would be so many pages long. That being said, I decided to do a shorter version and do a top 13 of 2013. All of these have been in a previous favorites post before over the year, but these are my top, top, must haves from the past year (although in no particular order).

YSL Youth Liberator Foundation in BR20 (get it here!)
This is it. This is the holy grail of foundations. I am the pickiest when it comes to foundations, and I've never actually been in love with one until this one. The YSL Youth Liberator Foundation has the famous YSL Youth Liberator serum in it, which is why it's so costly. But honestly, it's worth every penny. My skin has never looked better.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer (get it here!)
Combined with the YSL foundation, this primer is a dream (and a dream on its own). It's the best primer I've ever used and I have tried a lot of them. It really takes out any redness in my skin and makes for a flawless base to put down my foundation. I also use it if I'm just throwing on a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer; it makes my skin look so good even if I'm wearing basically no makeup.

Sigma F86 Tapered Kabuki Foundation Brush (get it here!)
The foundation trifecta ends with this brush. This plus my Hourglass primer and YSL foundation have given my skin the absolutely perfect look and I cannot recommend it enough. This brush is a tapered synthetic brush and it brushes the foundation on flawlessly. I've used this exclusively since I bought it.

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette (get it here!)
I use Anastasia Brow Powder when I have time to actually run powder through my brows, but when I don't or I'm being lazy, this is the best thing in the world. Unlike many brow pencils of high quality, this actually has a ton of product in it (I'm still on my first one), and it looks amazing. It's also super easy to use with a slanted tip and twist-up sharpener.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette (get it here!)
So like I said before, I didn't even think I needed this palette, but now that I have it, I feel like I can't live without it. It is the perfect palette for a simple neutral eye, and it requires little to no thinking because you don't have a ton of options. The perfect palette to break your Naked Palette virginity if you don't want to pull the trigger on a $52 one, as it's only half the price!

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (get it here!)
I finally bit the bullet in 2013 and bought the Shu Uemura eyelash curler, aka the holy grail of eyelash curlers. It is no secret that this is the best one out there, and I promise you that the $20 price tag is worth it. You will never go back once you try it.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Magic Marc'er Precision Pen (get it here!)
The best felt tip liner, hands down. I've tried a bunch since I've gotten into liquid liner, and none compare to this. It is the blackest of black, is incredibly easy to apply (even my sister who is a makeup noob can do it). It also stays on for 12+ hours (not an exaggeration). When I use it in the morning for work, it looks like I just applied it at 6:00pm when I get home for the day.

MAC Divine Night Mineralize Blush in Lavish Living (limited edition)

I'm bummed that this is a limited edition blush, because I wish everyone could go buy it. It has really become my favorite go-to winter blush, as it's a somewhat shimmery berry-plum shade. If I see any dupes of it, I promise to let y'all know!

Tom Ford Beauty Lip Color in Violet Fatale (get it here!)
I've become a Tom Ford lipstick addict after I fell in love with Black Orchid last year, and this has been my favorite color this year. It's a bright fuchsia color (even though it  legitimately looks purple in the tube), and I feel like it would flatter basically all skin types.

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon (get it here!)
It really seemed to be the year of Hourglass for me (it's the first year I've ever tried any of their products and now I'm certifiably addicted), and this might be my favorite product of all. The color 'Icon' by Hourglass is the most perfect deep red shade I've ever seen and used in my life. I first got it in the liquid lipstick form (which if you're only getting one, is what I recommend), but I've recently picked up the lip liner and regular lipstick too. You cannot go wrong with this color.

Geurlain 'Crazy Paris - Meteorites' Illuminating Powder (limited edition)
I know this exact powder is limited edition, but they come out with versions of it all the time and they have a very similar permanent one. It also comes in pearl version (which is little powdered beads) that people swear by, although I've never tried it. This finishing powder makes my skin look so glowing and flawless, and I've gotten so many compliments while wearing it.

OPI Nail Polish in 'In The Cable Car Pool Lane' (get it here!)
My favorite nail polish of 2013. It is from the OPI San Francisco collection, and it is a perfect color that can be worn year-round. It was my favorite fall color, but I've rocked it through winter and intend to continue wearing it through spring.

Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Perfume (get it here!)
And the perfume of the year goes to Jo Malone. I had a tough time choosing between Peony & Blush Suede (the scent that got me hooked on Jo Malone), and Blackberry & Bay, but B&B is the one I seem to keep reaching for. If you have never smelled Jo Malone perfume, I recommend going to your nearest Nordstrom or Jo Malone store to test all the scents.

And there you have it, my top 13 beauty favorites of 2013! I can't believe how fast the year flew by. What were some of your must-have products from 2013? Any you can recommend to me?

  1. oo I have been all about the maroons lately! I love that polish!
