April 2014 [Lifestyle] Favorites

TV Show: Chicago P.D.
I've been loving this new Dick Wolf series, moreso than its counterpart Chicago Fire. If you're a crime show fan (especially a Law & Order SVU fan) and haven't checked this out yet, I suggest you do - Wednesdays at 10pm on NBC.

Movie: Divergent
If you haven't read the book, read it first. You don't need to in order to follow along, but it's awesome. I used to hate Shailene Woodley because I thought she was a horrible actress in The Secret Life of the American Teenager (yes, I watched that), but she was amazing in this movie. I highly recommend seeing it if you haven't already.

Sweet Food: Peeps
Easter candy is without a doubt the best holiday candy there is, and I stick to the classics: jelly beans and peeps (the original yellow ones, of course).

Restaurant: Streetside Seafood
This little (and by little I mean it has like 10 tables) restaurant in the corner of Birmingham, MI is a seafood not-so-hidden gem. It took us an hour to get a table when we came in at 8:30pm, but it was so worth it (and so was the king crab).

Book: Seriously... I'm Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres
I had a free Audible credit for signing up and seeing what it was all about (Audible is an audio book website), so I downloaded this book to test it out. Ellen narrates it herself and I'm definitely loving it so far (I'm about halfway through). I think having celebrities narrate there own books is awesome - definitely gives the book a different feel!

Candle: Red Guava Lava
So excited to not be burning cinnamon scented candles and I have officially moved onto summer scents. B&BW came out with their new Hawaii line and I picked up Red Guava Lava, which is described as "an explosively fresh and fruity blend of red guava and passion fruit".

Song: Magic - 'Rude'
Dumbest premise for a song ever, but super catchy beat. The end.

iPhone/iPad App: James Spann 24/7
I don't even care if I live 1000 miles away from Alabama; if there is severe weather where I used to live, then I am watching James Spann's live stream and this app lets me do it right from my phone or iPad. The April 27th, 2011 tornado is a very traumatic moment in my life that I haven't completely healed from, and I truly believe that James Spann saved my life that day, so he will always hold a special place in my heart.

Person: Sofia
Sofia started working at my office in the beginning of March as our team secretary/person who takes care of legitimately everything, and I seriously couldn't have been given a better person to work with. She doesn't know it but she has made life at the office 100 times easier than it was and I thank God every single day that she is the person she is.

Hope everyone had a great April & a fabulous start to their May!

  1. I loved Secret Life. But I wasn't a huge fan of hers until the end.. I have read the book and now need to go see the movie.
