Holy Grail Skin Care Products

So I was looking at my insanely extensive beauty, skincare, and hair care product compilation in my bathroom the other day and was thinking about which products I use the most. After looking through them, it occurred to me that there are a handful of products in each category that I keep re-purchasing no matter what new products I find. I've decided that these are what I would consider my 'holy grail' products (aka, I've purchased them 3+ times, but most of them I've purchased even more than that). This is going to be a three-part series: skin care, hair care, and beauty products, and first up is skin care!
LUSH Tea Tree Toner
This toner has legitimately saved my skin. I started using LUSH products in 2010 and I've never looked back. I have oily to normal skin, which is what this is formulated for. The tea tree oil is perfect for controlling your t-zone, and the toner itself is alcohol-free so it won't dry out your skin either. This was the first toner I ever used on my skin and I can't imagine my skin care routine without it. It also comes in an easy-to-use spray bottle, so no cotton pad required. A huge bottle is only $21.95 (which usually lasts me 6-8 months), so the price is definitely reasonable. I've probably bought five or six big bottles of this (not to mention the mini ones I've purchased to travel with), and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Available at or in any LUSH free-standing store.

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
Hands down, the best self-tanning product I've ever used. It is incredibly natural looking, easy to apply, doesn't streak, lasts for almost a week per application (as long as you're not swimming), and doesn't smell like disgusting self-tanner. The only down side of this is the price point ($42 for an 8 oz. bottle), but not only is it worth it, the bottle will last you for a good 4 months because you don't need to apply it every day. I had a hard time pulling the trigger on this one but now that I have, I won't go back to cheap self-tanner. I even prefer this to getting a spray tan because the color is so much more natural. There is a wide range of St. Tropez self-tanning products but the mousse is by far the best one (the lotions are completely different formulas). If you're already darker, there is a dark mousse formula as well.
Available at, in free-standing Sephora Stores, and (not an all-inclusive list of availability).

Bioderma Crealine H2O Micelle Solution
If you're a beauty or fashion fanatic, there is a great chance you've heard of Bioderma. If you're not, there's a really good chance you haven't. Bioderma is a French dermatological brand that has a very wide range of skincare products, but they are definitely most famous for this product, which is essentially a cleansing water/toner that comes in a giant bottle and you use with a cotton pad. It has been written about time and time again as the go-to cleansing water that is used backstage at Fashion Week shows. Because it's a French product, the only place I've been able to get it in the USA for a reasonable price is I go through a bottle about once every 6 months or so and use it every night to take off any remaining makeup on my face. This in combination with my LUSH Tea Tree Toner is my skincare 1-2 punch that keeps all of my oil and blemishes at bay.
Available at (or in France).

Neutrogena Makeup Removing Wipes / Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover
We all have lazy days (aka every day for me) where you don't totally feel like really washing your face with your cleanser and you just want to wipe it off with a makeup wipe. These wipes are the only kind that have ever gotten all of my makeup off of my face with one wipe, and I really mean got it all off. If I'm wearing some heavy-duty eye makeup (like my Marc Jacobs Magic Marc'er Liquid Liner), then I go in with a cotton pad and some of the Eye Makeup Remover that comes in a bottle, and the two together work like a makeup-removing charm. I usually go in with my Bioderma after to get any leftover residue off my face (the wipes and remover are kind of slimy feeling), but I always go to bed with a make-up free face thanks to these. I've been using both products since the beginning of college, and they have remained a staple of mine for almost 10 years.
Available at most locations that sell drugstore beauty products (including Target, which is where I've found them the cheapest/in value packs).

LUSH Lip Scrub in Mint Julep
Because you know I love my lipsticks (easily my favorite beauty product), I need to keep my lips in good condition in order for the color to not set into cracks on my lips. The easiest way to do that is with a good lip scrub pre-applying your lipstick, and this is the one I keep going back to. It's actually an edible sugar scrub, so whatever you don't scrub into your lips, you can lick right off. It comes in a couple different flavors but this is definitely my favorite. It's extremely exfoliating and it will definitely get any dead, flaky skin off of your lips before applying your favorite pop of color.
Available at or in any LUSH free-standing store.
