August 2014 [Lifestyle] Favorites

TV Show: Arrested Development
For clarification, this is not my favorite TV show. Other than Friends, it is the only TV show I've watched all month. It was Ben's turn to choose, and I'm not the world's biggest fan. But I thought I'd let y'all know how dull my summer TV life has been (does that mean I've had a social life? Maybe?). I think the only other thing I might have seen was CNN's Crimes of the Century on Netflix, which was an 8-part series. If you're into that stuff, I recommend that too.

Sweet Food: Coldstone Ice Cream Cake
With so many August birthdays (my mom, my sister, my best friend/college roommate, my other best friend/law school roommate, & boyfriend), I was bound to have some good cake. This was by far the best one. It even had KitKats on top!

Savory Food: Starbucks Ham & Cheese Savory Squares
It even has savory in the name, so obviously I had to list it. If you haven't tried any of Starbucks new
La Boulange pastries, this is the one to go for first. It's definitely filling enough for a small lunch too if you're in a hurry.

Restaurant: Cookshop, New York City
I met my friend Kacey for brunch while I was in NYC for a wedding this month, and she recommended the cutest little brunch spot in Chelsea. We split some bacon and grits (y'all... I ate grits. I don't even like grits and these things were amazing and in the north!), and then I had a strawberry and goat cheese puff pastry. It was huge and amazing and I don't regret any of it. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in the area! (PS: Hi Kacey!).

Starbucks Drink: Nothing new, unless you count going twice a day new. I have a problem.

Candle: Eucalyptus & Mint Waves
A. This smells awesome, as the description describes it: "Catch a wave with this refreshing blend of water flowers, eucalyptus and surf." and B. LOOK AT THIS SEA GLASS. Can't wait to up-cycle this. *must burn this candle quickly*.

Song: Taylor Swift - Shake It Off
Unless you've been living under a rock the last month, no explanation necessary.

iPhone/iPad App: Spring
If you're involved in the fashion world at all & you haven't downloaded Spring yet, you're doing something wrong. Spring was started by a friend of mine from college, along with his brother and a team of all-stars (including the former social media all-star who ran the Bergdorf Goodman twitter account!). The easiest way to explain it is online shopping meets Twitter and Instagram. You can follow brands like you do on Twitter, which fills your feed with amazing new products, and you can like the brands products like you do on Instagram and it saves them in a "loves" area for you to come back to. Plus, buying is literally the easiest thing that exists. You can buy a product from the app in one swipe, which is scary and amazing all at the same time. A lot of high end brands are already being featured on Spring, like Jason Wu and Marchesa, but there are a lot of under the radar amazing brands that I've fallen in love with that are also much more affordable, like Weekend Society and Everlane. I highly recommend downloading Spring immediately and adding it to your lunchtime scroll.
