November 2014 Lifestyle Favorites

TV Show: Scandal
Not sure how Scandal has never been mentioned in my monthly lifestyle favorites, but such is life. Kerry Washington is a red-wine-drinking goddess and I couldn't be more team Jake if I tried. Also, can we please bring back Smelly Melly? If none of this makes sense to you, it's because you're not watching Scandal. And if that's the case, I don't know what you're doing with your life. Go, immediately, now.

Movie: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I
All of this. This movie is everything. If you haven't read the books, read them. But either way, go see this movie immediately.
Sweet Food: Pumpkin Pie
Any and all pumpkin pie is acceptable, but my mom's is second to none.

Savory Food: Stuffing
But only the kind my dad makes (sensing a Thanksgiving-theme here? I still have Thanksgiving dinner on the brain, clearly).

Restaurant: Ronin
Fantastic sushi place in Royal Oak for happy hour and hanging out.

CandleBaltic Black Pearl by Bath & Body Works
This is a crazy-unique candle, design and smell. It's a super deep, exotic smelling candle described as "sandalwood, lush suede, and jet black spices". This is totally not something I would gravitate towards, but I feel like it just transports me to the orient!

Book: The Eye of Minds by James Dashner
This is the first in "The Mortality Doctrine" trilogy, and I really enjoyed it. It's definitely not something I'd normally pick up, but I loved The Maze Runner series, and I also got this at Target which was selling author-signed copies. Score!

Starbucks Drink: Gingerbread Latte
As Halloween has been over for a while and we are well into the Christmas season, the PSL has been replaced by the GBL. And it is heavenly.

Song: The entire 1989 album
Seriously. The entire 1989 album. Specifically 'Blank Space' because it is everything.
Person: Allison
Allison, one of my best friends for as long as I can remember, just moved to Chicago for a new job. I'm going to miss her to freaking pieces, and all of our post-work happy-hour dates. Love you so much, Al. You're going to kill it in Chicago and I can't wait to visit you and do some damage on the Magnificent Mile.
