College Football Week 13: Rivalry Week [Say That 5 Times Fast]

It was rivalry week this past weekend, and while only 1/2 of my times came out victorious (Roll Tide!), there was still a lot of excitement to be had around the college football world (and also 14 college football head coach openings. Anyone looking for a job?).

On Friday night, (19) TCU took down (7) Baylor in a 28-21 2OT win, starting the weekend off strong. (16) Navy lost to Houston 52-31, Western Michigan took down (24) Toledo 35-30 (surprising much of the state of Michigan, I'm sure), USC got a win over (22) UCLA 40-21, and Washington State crushed (20) Washington in the Apple Bowl 45-10.

As for the more influential games... (13) Florida State completely dominated (12) Florida 27-2. Yes, you read that score right. 27-2. This is the same Florida team that will be playing Alabama next weekend at the SEC Championship. And then there was the (6) Notre Dame vs (9) Stanford shoot-out that happened on Saturday night. It really looked like Notre Dame had taken it home when they scored a (controversial) touchdown with :35 left on the clock. What really ended up getting them was the fact that it was ruled a touchdown, giving Stanford the ball back. If the call had been reversed and ND had to go for a touchdown again, Stanford wouldn't have ever had the ball back with any time on the clock, or at least much, much less. But since they got it, Stanford had :35 to move the ball within field goal range, which they did, and their kicker nailed a 45-yard kick right down the middle, giving Stanford the win 38-36.

On the non-upset front, (3) Oklahoma clinch their spot as Big 12 Champions with a 58-23 win over (11) Oklahoma State. (1) Clemson held on with a 37-32 over South Carolina (the same South Carolina who lost to the Citadel last week). (5) Michigan State routed Penn State 55-16 to secure their place in the B1G championship game next weekend. And (2) Alabama defeated Auburn in a game that was much closer than it should have been, but nonetheless also secured their spot in the SEC Championship game on Saturday.

FIRE: Michigan DC DJ Durkin
Because he went on interviews last week & it showed when Ohio State completely dominated us in The Game this weekend.

MARRY: Michigan State Center Jack Allen
Because he is 300 pounds and stiff-armed his way to a touchdown.

KILL: LSU AD Joe Alleva
Because of how he put Les Miles through two weeks of torture & then made the most arrogant press conference ever about how 'of course they were going to keep him the whole time'. If Les Miles had another better job lined up than LSU, I would suggest that he tell Alleva to kiss his ass.

B1G Championship Game: (5) Michigan State vs. (4) Iowa 8pm FOX
SEC Championship Game: (18) Florida vs. (2) Alabama 4pm CBS
ACC Championship Game(10) North Carolina vs. (1) Clemson 8pm ABC

Michigan is done until their bowl game, but ROLL TIDE.
