February 2016 Lifestyle Favorites

TV Show: The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story
As Ben so gently put it, "thank God they made a TV show about it so you can find out what happens". Obviously I know what happens, but it is a great portrayal (so far) of what was one of the most gripping criminal cases in our lifetime. Also, I'm a true-crime addict. Also, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian is hilariously amazing.

Sweet Food: Apples + Peanut Butter (melted) + Chocolate Chips
The best dessert ever.

Savory Food: Trader Joe's Olive Oil Popocorn
An addiction waiting to happen. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Restaurant: Soul Gastrolounge (Charlotte, NC)
An amazing tapas place near our apartment that I've already been to twice. Their speciality? Pork belly tacos with watermelon salsa. For any of my friends that come visit me, this will be your first dish.

Candle/Lush Product: Each Peach (and Two's a Pair) Massage Bar by Lush
This product is made with avocado, shea butter, and mango and you rub it onto your dry skin, giving it a ton of moisture and some brightness, thanks to the citrus.

Song: 'I Took A Pill in Ibiza' by Mike Posner
I am so glad Mike Posner is back in action and he absolutely kills it with this song. The remix version by SeeB is the one that's hitting airwaves a lot, but I actually enjoy the acoustic original version a little more. It's such an honest song that I think really spoke to his fans, hence his new hit single!

iPhone/iPad app: ClassPass
ClassPass is the greatest (obviously the app is secondary to the service). You pay $79/month, cancel at anytime, and you get to go to any studio on their list (there are about 80-90 in Charlotte) up to 4 times a month. Obviously the studio can limit the classes available to ClassPass members, but it has been a great way to get to know the city (I know my way around better than Ben does now) and try out new workouts. Plus, it's great for these studios too because it gets people in the door and addicted to their classes (like me).

Workout: PureBarre
So on the note of ClassPass being my favorite app, I'm going to talk about a new place I've visited in the Charlotte area every month (since I've been to about 10 already, I should be set for a while!). The first place I went to on ClassPass (and subsequently the first place I fell in love with), was PureBarre (specifically, the Myers Park location in Charlotte). The owner Casie is amazing (& she's also an instructor!), and Elizabeth is my absolute favorite instructor. Her classes are amazing and she is so  motivational. For those of you who don't know, I am a former swimmer (for approx. 15 years of my life), so my land coordination is not stellar. Elizabeth really pushes me & even told me I looked elegant while doing some of the exercises at the bar (which I promise you, no one has ever said about me before). Also, my arms are ripped after going about 15 times. If you're looking for a new workout to try, I highly recommend Pure Barre! I will be doing a full post on PB & what I've learned in a couple of weeks after their March Madness promotion, so stay tuned!

Person: Kristin Steinmetz
This lovely lady came into my life a few years ago when she started dating one of my best friends. My friend group is fully aware how hard we are to penetrate, and she did it with complete ease. This past Christmas, she got engaged to my best friend and I could not be happier to be celebrating their future together. I now consider her one of my good friends and someone whom I miss dearly now that I'm in Charlotte! #meetthebagels
